FlyingFuel explains aviation for travellers and aviation fans: aircraft, airlines, airports, safety and the news that shapes them. This page explains how we choose, research, write and update what we publish.
Who writes FlyingFuel
Every article carries the name of the editor responsible for it, with a short biography at the end of the page. Ganesh Kolekar (founder and editor) oversees news and airport coverage, Raj Hirvate aircraft reviews and comparisons, Mrunmay Phanse guides and safety explainers, and Ankit Kumar airline, business and feature coverage.
How we research
- We use facts only from sources we have actually read, and we link to them in the article.
- We prefer primary sources: regulators (such as the FAA, EASA, the UK Civil Aviation Authority and India’s DGCA), manufacturers, airlines, airports and official statistics.
- For news, we also use established aviation and news publications, and we name them in the text.
- When sources disagree, or a figure is a company claim rather than an independent measurement, we say so.
- Our own calculations, such as great-circle distances, are labelled as ours and explained.
Photos and graphics
We use photos that are free to reuse under licences such as Creative Commons, mostly from Wikimedia Commons, and we credit the photographer and licence under every image. Charts and featured graphics are made by FlyingFuel from the data in the article.
News and updates
News articles show the time they were published and, when changed, the time they were last updated. When facts change, for example when an aircraft is certified or a project is approved, we update our related guides as well and link to the news report.
Corrections
If you spot an error, please tell us through our contact page. We check every report against the original source and correct mistakes promptly, noting significant corrections in the article.
Independence and advertising
FlyingFuel is not paid by airlines, airports or manufacturers for its coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, they will be clearly labelled. Advertising never decides what we write or what we conclude.
Technology we use
We use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, to help with research, drafting and checking. Every article is built on the sources listed in it, and an editor is responsible for what is published under their name.
