easyJet to Fit Starlink Wi-Fi Across Its Airbus Fleet From 2027

By Ganesh KolekarPublished

Summary

  • easyJet will offer Wi-Fi on board for the first time, using SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet
  • Installation on its A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft is due to start in the first half of 2027 and finish by early 2028
  • easyJet has not said what passengers will pay; in January its chief executive said the economics of Starlink did not yet work for the airline

LUTON, United Kingdom, 26 October 2026 – UK low-cost airline easyJet has said it will offer Wi-Fi on board for the first time, fitting SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet to its Airbus fleet. In a news release, the airline said installation will start in the first half of 2027 and is expected to be completed by early 2028.

easyJet says the service will let passengers stream, game and browse on their own devices. It carried 100 million passengers in 2025 and flies more than 350 aircraft, according to the release. AirlineGeeks and AeroTime reported the deal on the same day.

What passengers will get

According to easyJet, Starlink will go on its A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft. The airline lists these uses:

  • Streaming, gaming and browsing on passengers’ own phones, tablets and laptops
  • Flight status through the easyJet app and website while in the air
  • Destination information such as local weather, transport and tourist information
  • Ordering from the inflight menu from the seat, which easyJet describes as a possibility the technology opens up rather than a confirmed feature

The release does not give a price or say whether Wi-Fi will be free, and it does not say how many aircraft will be fitted. AeroTime notes there was no mention of free access and reports that easyJet’s older A319s, which are being phased out, will not get Starlink. One early headline on LBC described the Wi-Fi as free, but the article itself does not say so.

What easyJet and SpaceX said

Chief executive Kenton Jarvis said in the release: “Innovation is in easyJet’s DNA.” He said getting online in the air would give business and leisure travellers more of the choice they want when picking an airline. Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of SpaceX, said: “Fast, reliable connectivity from take-off to landing means people can work, stream, or stay in touch without interruption.”

A change of mind on cost

The deal reverses easyJet’s earlier position. AeroTime reports that in January 2026, Jarvis praised the Starlink product but said the cost did not add up, and that after talks with SpaceX the airline said the economics were not quite working for it. The announcement also comes while easyJet goes through a takeover: AirlineGeeks reports that Apollo has offered £7.15 a share in cash, with shareholders due to vote next month.

easyJet joins a growing list of airlines using Starlink. AirlineGeeks names United, Southwest, Lufthansa Group, Emirates, Air France-KLM, Air Canada and Alaska, while AeroTime adds low-cost rivals Wizz Air, Frontier and Volaris. Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary has shown no interest in Starlink, AeroTime says.

What it means for UK travellers

For now, nothing changes: easyJet flights have no onboard internet until the first Starlink installs in 2027, and the airline has not said which routes or aircraft will be first. The plan covers the A320neo and A321neo as well as the older A320, and the airline’s target is to finish by early 2028. Until easyJet publishes prices and the first equipped aircraft fly, it is not clear what passengers will pay or how the service will work in practice.
