Embraer, from Brazil, builds the E-Jet family of small airliners. Its E-Jets, flown since 2004, are a common sight at airports from New York to Amsterdam, and the new E2 generation brings bigger wings, geared turbofan engines and lower fuel burn. In this guide we explain every Embraer airliner in 2026, with the same facts for each: seats, range, engines, cockpit and who flies it.
Quick answer: Embraer offers the E195-E2 (up to 146 seats, 3,000 nm), the E190-E2 (up to 114 seats, 2,950 nm) and the first-generation E175 (up to 88 seats), which US regional airlines still buy. The smaller E175-E2 has flown, but its development was paused in 2022.

Embraer: The Company in Brief
Embraer was founded in Brazil in 1969 and is based in São José dos Campos. Besides airliners it builds business jets and military aircraft (see our guide to Embraer business jets). Wikipedia says the first E-Jet flew on 19 February 2002 and LOT Polish Airlines flew the first commercial E-Jet flight, with an E170, on 17 March 2004. By the third quarter of 2026, 1,771 first-generation E-Jets had been delivered.

Why Passengers Like E-Jets: No Middle Seats
Every E-Jet and E2 has a four-abreast cabin, two seats on each side of the aisle, so nobody gets a middle seat. Wikipedia lists a seat width of 46 cm (18.3 in) for the E2. Embraer says the E2 cabin is designed to feel like a widebody, with Wi-Fi, streaming entertainment and space for personal devices.

1. Embraer E195-E2: The Biggest Embraer
The E195-E2 is the largest aircraft Embraer has built, with up to 146 seats and a range of 3,000 nm with a full load. Wikipedia says it first flew on 29 March 2017, was certified on 15 April 2019 and was first flown by Azul in Brazil, with 464 ordered and 182 delivered by October 2026.

4. Embraer E175-E2: Flown, Then Paused
The E175-E2 is the new-generation version of the E175, with up to 90 seats, Pratt & Whitney PW1700G engines and 2,000 nm of range. Wikipedia says it first flew on 12 December 2019, but in February 2022 Embraer halted its development for three years; Wikipedia gives expected deliveries of around 2027 to 2028 at the earliest. Embraer still publishes its specifications: a maximum take-off weight of 44,600 kg (98,120 lb), Mach 0.82 and a 41,000 ft ceiling.

Frequently Asked Questions
What airliners does Embraer make?
The first-generation E175, still built mainly for US regional airlines, and the new-generation E190-E2 and E195-E2. A smaller E175-E2 has flown, but Embraer paused its development in 2022.
How many seats does the Embraer E195-E2 have?
Embraer lists 120 seats in three classes, 132 in one class at 31-inch pitch and up to 146 at 28-inch pitch.
Do Embraer jets have middle seats?
No. E-Jets and E2s are four-abreast, with two seats on each side of the aisle, so every passenger has a window or an aisle seat.
Why do US airlines still fly the old E175?
Wikipedia says US regional airlines are restricted from operating the newer E2 generation by pilot “scope clause” limits, which is why the first-generation E175 remains in production.
How far can an E195-E2 fly?
Embraer lists 3,000 nm (5,556 km) with a full passenger load, long-range cruise and typical reserves, at up to Mach 0.82.
How much fuel does the E2 save?
Embraer says the E195-E2 burns 29% less fuel than previous-generation E-Jets. Wikipedia reports 25.4% less fuel per seat than the E195, and 17.3% lower fuel burn for the E190-E2 than the E190 in flight tests.
What engines does the E2 use?
Pratt & Whitney geared turbofans: the PW1900G on the E190-E2 and E195-E2, and the smaller PW1700G on the E175-E2. The first-generation E175 uses General Electric CF34-8E engines.
How many Embraer E-Jets have been built?
Wikipedia counts 1,771 first-generation E-Jets delivered by the third quarter of 2026, and 224 E2s delivered from 556 orders by 23 October 2026.
Embraer E195-E2 or Airbus A220?
