Gulfstream sells two flagship jets that look almost the same: the G700 and the G800. They share the same wing, engines, cockpit and top speed. The difference is the length of the fuselage, and that one change decides whether you get more cabin or more range.
Quick answer: the G700 has a cabin about 10 ft longer (56 ft 11 in against 46 ft 10 in), 20 windows instead of 16 and up to five living areas. The G800 flies 450 nm further (8,200 nm against 7,750 nm), the longest range of any business jet, and costs about US$7 million less. Choose the G700 for space, the G800 for distance.
All figures come from Gulfstream’s pages for the G700 and G800, with dates and prices from Wikipedia. For full reviews, read our Gulfstream G700 review and Gulfstream G800 review.

Two Jets From One Design
Both jets grew out of the G650, Gulfstream’s earlier ultra-long-range flagship. Wikipedia explains that Gulfstream announced the G700 in October 2019 as a 10 ft stretch of the G650, with new Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, a wing with bigger winglets and the fly-by-wire Symmetry flight deck. Two years later, in October 2021, it unveiled the G800: the same new wing, engines and cockpit, but on a G650-length fuselage. The G800 is slated to replace the G650.
The G700 first flew in February 2020 and entered service in April 2024. The G800 first flew on 28 June 2022, was certified by the FAA and EASA in April 2025, and was first delivered in late August 2025. Wikipedia counts 135 G700s and 34 G800s built by October 2026.

Cabin: The G700 Is About 10 ft Longer
Inside, the two jets have the same cross-section: 8 ft 2 in wide and 6 ft 3 in high, so seats, sofas and the feel of each zone are the same. What changes is how many zones you get.
| Gulfstream layouts | Living areas | Passengers | Sleeps |
|---|---|---|---|
| G700: forward galley with Grand Suite | 4 | Up to 13 | Up to 8 |
| G700: Ultragalley with crew compartment | 4 | Up to 19 | Up to 9 |
| G700: forward galley, 5 living areas | 5 | Up to 18 | Up to 9 |
| G800: forward galley with crew compartment | 3 | Up to 15 | Up to 7 |
| G800: forward galley, no crew compartment | 4 | Up to 17 | Up to 7 |
Source: Gulfstream: G700 and G800 pages.

The extra length lets the G700 fit a fifth living area, or a Grand Suite bedroom with a shower, or a full-size Ultragalley with a separate crew room, without giving up seats. In the G800, choosing a crew compartment drops you to three living areas. Both cabins get 100% fresh, plasma-ionised air, replaced every two to three minutes, and a 2,840 ft cabin altitude at 41,000 ft.
Range: The G800 Flies Further

The G800 is the longest-range business jet in service. Gulfstream quotes 8,200 nm at Mach 0.85 and 7,000 nm at Mach 0.90, against 7,750 nm and 6,650 nm for the G700, all with 8 passengers, 4 crew and NBAA IFR reserves.
The reason is simple physics. Both jets carry the same 49,400 lb of fuel and use the same engines, but the G800 is shorter and about 2,000 lb lighter at maximum take-off weight. Less weight to carry means each pound of fuel goes further. It also needs a little less runway: 5,812 ft against 5,995 ft at maximum weight.
What does 450 nm mean in practice? Both jets fly London to Los Angeles or Dubai to New York with room to spare. The G800’s extra margin matters on the very longest routes, such as New York to Hong Kong or Los Angeles to Sydney, and on hot or windy days. In June 2026, Wikipedia reports, a G800 flew 8,303 nm from Melbourne to Moline, Illinois. See the longest airline flights in the world for comparison.

- Engines: two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 turbofans of 18,250 lbf (81.20 kN) each, an improved BR725 with a bypass ratio above 6.5:1 and an overall pressure ratio above 50:1.
- Wing: the same 103 ft span with large upturned winglets.
- Speed: the same Mach 0.935 maximum, the fastest in Gulfstream’s range.
- Cockpit: the Symmetry flight deck with ten touch screens, active control side-sticks, a Combined Vision System on dual head-up displays and the Predictive Landing Performance System.
- Maximum altitude: 51,000 ft for both.

How to Tell Them Apart

- Count the windows: ten large oval windows per side on the G700, eight on the G800.
- Length: the G700 is 109 ft 10 in long, the G800 99 ft 9 in, so the G800 looks stubbier next to its wide wing.
- The G650: the same length as the G800, but with smaller winglets and older engines.
Price and Value
According to Wikipedia, an equipped G700 cost about US$79.9 million in 2023 and a G800 about US$72.5 million. For about US$7 million less, the G800 gives more range and gives up cabin space. Real prices depend on interior choices and delivery slots.
Which Should You Choose?
- Choose the G700 if you often fly with large groups, families or a full crew, want a bedroom with a shower and a separate crew rest area, or simply want the largest cabin in business aviation.
- Choose the G800 if you mostly fly with a few people on the longest routes, such as US to Asia or Europe to Australia, and want the best range for the money.
- Consider the Bombardier Global 8000 if speed matters most: it is faster than both (Mach 0.95) and sits between them on cabin length and range. See G700 vs Global 8000.
Our Verdict
The G700 and G800 are the same aircraft built for two different missions. The G700 trades about 450 nm of range for 10 ft more cabin, a fifth living area and four extra windows; the G800 trades that space for the longest range in business aviation and a lower price. Neither is the wrong choice. If you cannot decide, look at your passenger list: big groups point to the G700, long routes with small groups point to the G800. For the rest of the range, see our guide to every Gulfstream jet and private jet sizes explained.
Key Takeaways
- The G700 and G800 share the wing, Pearl 700 engines, Symmetry cockpit and Mach 0.935 top speed.
- The G700 has the bigger cabin: 56 ft 11 in, 20 windows, up to five living areas, sleeps 13.
- The G800 flies further: 8,200 nm against 7,750 nm, because it is shorter and lighter with the same fuel.
- The G800 costs about US$72.5 million equipped (2023), about US$7 million less than the G700.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Gulfstream G700 and G800?
