Gulfstream G700 Review: The Biggest Cabin in Business Aviation (2026)

The Gulfstream G700 has the longest cabin of any business jet flying today: 56 ft 11 in of living space, split into up to five areas and lit by 20 of Gulfstream’s huge oval windows. It also flies 7,750 nm nonstop and reaches Mach 0.935. In this review we look at it the way we review airliners: the looks, the cabin, the engines, the cockpit, range, price, safety and how it compares with its rivals.

Quick answer: the G700 is Gulfstream’s flagship for space, a stretched development of the G650 with new Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and the Symmetry flight deck. It entered service in April 2024, costs about US$79.9 million equipped (2023), and seats up to 19. Its rivals are the Bombardier Global 8000, which is faster and flies further, and Gulfstream’s own G800, which trades cabin length for range.

What Is the G700?

The G700 is the largest jet in Gulfstream’s current range (see our guide to every Gulfstream jet). Wikipedia says Gulfstream announced it as its new flagship on the eve of the NBAA convention in Las Vegas in October 2019. It is a 10 ft (3 m) stretch of the G650, Gulfstream’s earlier ultra-long-range jet, with new engines, bigger winglets and the fly-by-wire Symmetry flight deck from the G500 and G600.

The first G700 flew on 14 February 2020. Deliveries were first planned for 2022, but certification took longer than expected: the FAA certificate came on 29 March 2024, and the first two aircraft were handed to US customers on 23 April 2024. Wikipedia counts 135 G700s built by October 2026, which shows how quickly the type has sold.

How the G700 Looks: Exterior Design

The G700 is long and slim: 109 ft 10 in (33.48 m) long with a 103 ft (31.39 m) wingspan and a height of 25 ft 5 in. Like every modern Gulfstream, it has a sharply swept wing, a T-tail, two rear-mounted engines and a row of large oval windows. With 10 windows per side, it has more than any other Gulfstream.

Wing and winglets

Wikipedia says the G700 uses the same 1,283 sq ft (119.2 m²) wing as the G650, with a 33° sweep, but with new winglets that make the span about 3.4 ft wider, and room for about 1,200 lb more fuel in the wing. Gulfstream describes it as a “clean wing” with all-new winglets.

How to recognise a G700 at the airport

  • Ten large oval windows on each side, more than any other Gulfstream
  • Upturned winglets on a long, swept wing
  • A G800 looks almost the same but is shorter, with eight windows per side
  • The older G650 has the same windows and nose, but is shorter and has smaller winglets

The Rolls-Royce Pearl 700, Explained Simply

The G700 has two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 turbofans, each giving 18,250 lbf (81.20 kN) of take-off thrust. Wikipedia says the Pearl 700 is an improved version of the BR725 that powered the G650, with one more low-pressure turbine stage, a bypass ratio above 6.5:1 and an overall pressure ratio above 50:1. Rolls-Royce claimed 3-5% better specific fuel consumption.

A higher bypass ratio means more air flows around the hot core rather than through it, which is quieter and more efficient, and a higher pressure ratio squeezes more energy from each kilogram of fuel. The same engines power the G800. For a simple guide to how jet engines work, see turbofan vs turboprop.

The cabin is the reason people buy a G700. It is 56 ft 11 in (17.35 m) long without the baggage compartment, 63 ft 8 in including it, 8 ft 2 in (2.49 m) wide and 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) high, with 2,603 cu ft of space. Gulfstream offers three main layouts:

1. Twenty panoramic windows

Gulfstream calls its oval windows the largest in business aviation, and the G700 has 20 of them. More windows and more natural light make a long cabin feel less like a tube, which matters on a 15-hour flight.

2. Fresh air and a low cabin altitude

Gulfstream says the cabin gets 100% fresh, plasma-ionised air, replenished every two to three minutes. At 41,000 ft the cabin is pressurised to 2,840 ft, far lower than the 6,000 to 8,000 ft of most airliners; the Bombardier Global 8000 is slightly lower again at 2,691 ft. You can read why airliners cruise so high in why planes fly at 35,000 feet.

3. The Ultragalley and crew compartment

One layout puts an Ultragalley at the front, a full-size kitchen with a dedicated crew compartment so pilots and cabin crew can rest away from passengers on long flights. There are lavatories at both ends of the cabin.

4. Grand Suite with a shower

At the back, owners can choose a Grand Suite, a private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and an optional shower. Gulfstream says its seats are handcrafted and convert into beds.

5. Wi-Fi and the quiet cabin

For connectivity, Gulfstream lists Jet ConneX Ka-band Wi-Fi. It also calls the cabin “whisper-quiet”, though it does not publish a decibel figure on the G700 page.

The Cockpit: Symmetry Flight Deck

Pilots fly the G700 from Gulfstream’s Symmetry flight deck, first used on the G500 and G600. Wikipedia says it is a fly-by-wire design based on Honeywell Primus Epic avionics. Instead of a yoke, pilots have active control side-sticks: the two sticks are electronically linked, so each pilot can feel what the other is doing, which Gulfstream highlights as a safety feature. Most controls are touch screens.

Gulfstream lists a Combined Vision System shown on dual head-up displays, which blends an infrared camera image with a computer-drawn view of the terrain to help pilots in poor visibility, and the Predictive Landing Performance System, which warns pilots before touchdown if the aircraft is at risk of running off the end of the runway.

Range and Performance

Gulfstream quotes 7,750 nm (14,353 km) at Mach 0.85, or 6,650 nm at Mach 0.90, both with 8 passengers, 4 crew and NBAA IFR reserves. That is enough for routes such as London to Los Angeles with plenty to spare, or Dubai to New York. Wikipedia notes that the figure grew during development: Gulfstream announced 7,500 nm in 2019, and flight tests reportedly reached 7,800 to 8,000 nm.

Safety and Reliability

Wikipedia lists no accidents involving the G700. The only fatal accident in the wider G650/G700/G800 family was the crash of a G650 test aircraft in 2011, during certification flight testing. The G700 is certified by the FAA, and Wikipedia says India’s DGCA certified it in 2026. Its Predictive Landing Performance System and active side-sticks are among the safety features Gulfstream highlights. The G700 was nominated for the 2024 Collier Trophy, one of aviation’s top awards, which went to the Parker Solar Probe.

Price and Who Flies It

Wikipedia lists an equipped price of about US$79.9 million in 2023, against about US$75 million when it was announced. Operators include charter firm Qatar Executive, with 10 G700s, private jet company Flexjet with five, and the US Coast Guard, which has one with a second on order.

G700 vs Bombardier Global 8000

This is the big rivalry in private aviation. The G700 has 2 ft 6 in more cabin; the Global 8000 is faster, flies 250 nm further and has a slightly lower cabin altitude. Read our Bombardier Global 8000 review for the full picture.

G700 vs Gulfstream G800

Same wing, engines, cockpit and top speed. The G800 gives up about 10 ft of cabin (and four windows) for 450 nm more range, and costs less. Choose the G700 for space, the G800 for the longest routes.

G700 vs Dassault Falcon 10X

The Falcon 10X, expected around 2029, will have a wider cabin (about 9 ft 1 in), but less range. See our Dassault Falcon guide.

Our Verdict

The G700 is the business jet to choose if cabin space matters most. Nothing else in service gives you as much room, as many windows or as many ways to lay out the interior, and its 7,750 nm range still covers almost every route a private owner needs. The Global 8000 is faster and flies a little further, and the G800 flies further still, but neither matches the G700 for space. For a long flight with family, colleagues or a crew who need proper rest, it is the most comfortable private jet you can buy in 2026.
